Lepenski Vir locality in Serbia is in eastern Serbia, on about 15km distance from Donji Milanovac. Artifacts from here date back to maybe 8000 years b.c. This is community famous to historians for it’s advance way of thinking and social organizing. In that time they had artist who made sculptures and kind of architecture of that time. Archeological excavation started in same time as building hydro power plant, in middle of 20. century. This locality was found just by luck, when Hydro power plant building was started in 1965. In addition to that, in this locality, was found large number of prehistoric objects. And also sculptures, signs, tombs and prehistoric houses. Above all, for this location it is presumed to be first human settlement in Europe.
Lepenski Vir museum
In today’s museum Lepenski vir, history locality, are many tombs, houses, objects, sculptures etc. Above all, maybe most famous is human fish sculpture found here. However, many other forms of figures found here, depending of the period. Some are in human shape, some of them are human fish form, some are human form. There are few parts of Lepenski vir location. And they are all from different time period. They are: Proto-Lepenski vid, Lepenski vir Ia-e, Lepenski vir 2, Lepenski vir 3 and some additional sites. Additional site of museum Lepenski vir are Hajducka vodenica , Kladovska skela , Padina, Vlasac, Ikaona etc. Lepenski vir settlement is horseshoe shaped and looking on Danube river. The burial site is located out the ancient settlement. In addition, today there are findings of houses that can be seen in museum.

Work time in January is from 10:00 – 15:00 hours. However, in February it’s closed. Lepenski vir works in March from 9:00 to 17:00. April work hours are from 9:00 to 19:00. May and August work hours of Lepenski vir museum are 9:00 to 20:00. September work hours of Lepenski vir locality are 9-19. After that, October work hours are from 9:00 to 18:00.
